Allianz Real Estate supports the initiative in its quest to develop a fundamental practical guide on how the German real estate industry can put corporate social responsibility into practice, and has been involved in the design process. The guide was presented on September 28, 2016 at the Allianz Forum hosted by Alexander Gebauer, CEO and COO of Allianz Real Estate.
Brigitte Zypries, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, gave a welcoming speech, followed by a key note speech from Prof. Klaus Töpfer (former executive director of UNEP and former Federal Minister).
The Initiative Corporate Governance der deutschen Immobilienwirtschaft (ICG) and the German Property Federation (Zentraler Immobilien Ausschuss, ZIA) have been involved in ecological and economic programs to implement sustainability for a number of years. As part of the ICG's CSR initiative, both partners are now focusing on corporate social responsibility within the German real estate sector, as well as its benefits for society. In cooperation with the participating companies, the initiative has now developed and presented a program guide, which identifies the relevance of sustainable corporate governance with a special focus on corporate social responsibility. As a result, it is expected that the real estate industry should be more open to the idea of long-term involvement in this area. In addition to an analysis of the present situation, the guide also contains numerous practical tips and outlines areas in which measures promise to be particularly fruitful, as well as success factors and plenty of best practice examples as food for thought.
